City Council Pushing Safety in the Streets

The Dyersville City Council is trying to implement safer walking routes for students who attend West Dubuque Elementary School. On Monday night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Al Haas presented his progress on how to best construct a pedestrian connection starting from Westside Park and ending in front of the school which is located on a busy intersection.

Council members approved 4-0 for Mayor Haas to pursue a proposal from IIW on another option to implement a sidewalk. Once Haas gathers all his information, he will present three different proposals for the City Council to review and vote on for the best option for the pedestrian connection. Dyersvillage.com reporter Megan Vorwald sat down with Mayor Haas to learn more this new project that the City Council is currently working on.
